Eiffel Tower of the Outback at Roma QLD Australia

The Eiffel Tower of the outback is an observation tower in the town of Roma Qld and stands approximately 140m in height. The iconic tower is a recently completed structure at The Big Rig tourist information centre that educates visitors about the history of oil and gas exploration in outback Queensland. Visitors can either ride an elevator to the top or take the Tree Top Walkway and stairs to various levels to see panoramic views across Roma to the vast plains of the Maranoa Shire.

The local council secured government funding to have the impressive built as part of their tourism strategy. The tower was built by the construction company Hutchinson Builders and stands beside the EMSCO Rig which is an example of an early drilling rig used in the region. Visitors to Roma Qld can join the Sunset Tour at the Big Rig and be "taken on a 35-minute sound and light journey to learn of the entertaining trials and triumphs of early industry men and women in Roma".

The town of Roma has a population of approximately 6848 and was incorporated in 1867. It is the centre of a rich pastoral and wheat-growing district and the Roma Sale yards is Australia's largest cattle selling centre, with over 400,000 cattle passing through a year.

Oil and Gas

Roma is the site of Australia's first oil and gas discoveries. Natural gas was discovered by accident in 1900 during a drilling operation for water. Oil was discovered in 1927 at Hospital Hill. The crude oil found could be used in motor vehicles straight from the well.

Roma Location

Roma is located approximately 480km by road and approximately 1hr and 15min by commercial air services from the Queensland capital Brisbane and also a major town on the Western Railway Line from Toowoomba and Brisbane. Roma is also situated at the junction of the major western Warrego and northern Carnarvon highways.

Kinnho Teppanyaki Restaurant Mooloolaba Fitout By Hiller - Commercial Photography by John Wilson Media

Hiller, Hospitality and Design company was engaged by Kinnho Restaurant to revamp their existing sushi food venue in the heart of Mooloolaba recently. With a vision to change direction and offer diners an engaging dining experience, Kinnho decided to create a teppanyaki style refit to their restaurant.

What is Teppanyaki?

The teppanyaki style of food preparation is about 200 years old and originates in Japan. The name teppanyaki is derived from the words ‘teppan’ (iron plate) and ‘yaki’ (grilled, boiled, or pan-fried). So, it literally means ‘grilling on an iron plate’ and was originally a method of food preparation by families. Modern Teppanyaki food preparation combines eastern flavours with western side dishes and is produced with a skillful performance of flailing knives and fast food movement over the hotplate. It is as much a visual experience as culinary and an enjoyable way to share a meal with family and friends.

Hiller supplied all materials, from the benchtops, flooring, and cladding to make a strong visual impact whilst being practical and within budget. The final result is a testament to the collaborative and creative abilities of the design and fit out team at Hiller. 

Photographing The Restaurant

For the interior design photography, we decided to make use of the lovely ambience created by the restaurant lighting. The colour temperature of the daylight and its strength streaming in through the front windows overpowered the internal ambience and in order to eliminate this, we needed to mask off the strong outside light from the front of the restaurant with black sheeting. This extra preparation of the room for photography paid dividends by providing eye-catching photos of the cooking stations and overall layout and design achieved by our client Hiller.

School Tuckshop Transformation - Kitchen installation at Fraser Coast Anglican College

Leading catering equipment suppliers and designers, Hiller, engaged John Wilson Media photography to photograph a new commercial kitchen installation in Hervey Bay recently and transformed a tiny school tuck shop into a purpose-built kitchen

Fraser Coast Anglican College had been operating a basic tuckshop with a few microwaves and a domestic oven and some other bits and pieces. With an expanding school and desire to improve facilities the school embarked on a project to revamp the school tuckshop and Hiller provided a total kitchen fit out. Commercial oven and warmers were installed along with a commercial dishwasher and plenty of food preparation areas. The ladies that help run the school tuckshop named "Mac Shack" were over the moon with their new kitchen!

Ozcare aged facility Hervey Bay - Interior & Exterior property photography

We recently photographed the new Ozcare facility at Hervey Bay. We provided interior and exterior photography of the completed facility after previously being commissioned to photograph the property during the construction process.

The facility has several levels and wings and provides some innovative features into its care infrastructure. The location of the property on a high point in Hervey Bay provides rooms with lovely views to the east and west. A coffee shop, hair salon and picture theatre are some of the additional services available to residents. The property is also surrounded by plenty of landscaped garden areas with various access points from within the facility.

Tinana Interchange aerial photography Bruce Highway Maryborough Qld

Our aerial photography was used to record the construction progress of the $18 million Tinana Interchange project on the Bruce Highway at Maryborough. Prior to construction access off the highway from the south into Maryborough was via a very tight and narrow overpass that had experienced many traffic incidents. On one occasion a truck exiting from the highway rolled over the overpass barrier killing the driver.

We were pleased to hear the Eli Waters shopping centre in Hervey Bay, Queensland has recently been sold and is the largest sale we have been associated with so far this year. We photographed the centre for real estate agents Savills and combined our interior and exterior real estate photography with our aerial property photography to help with the marketing of the property.

STRONG predicted population growth in the region has helped seal the deal on the sale of Eli Waters Shopping Centre for $33.2 million.

Karmah Developments owned the development and sold it to Queensland-based Taiwanese investor Chin Yuan International Enterprise on a 6.6% yield.

They indicated that the strong population growth rate of the Hervey Bay region was a definite factor in the sale., saying "Population growth is an attraction for any buyer."

The strong performance of the centre described as above benchmark levels and having a Woolworths supermarket was also attractive to Chin Yuan International Enterprise.

The 6338-square-metre centre also has 23 speciality shops and a kiosk.
